Amazing, Amazing, Coast line.

We have hiked up and down mountains, walked long winding trail's, all to get to the water.  On our travels down the coast we saw painting perfect sceneries.
Once we got to the ocean, The Cisco Kid could not resist digging a hole in the sand.  He has been dinging for as long as I could remember.  I do not get it.  I think it's a boy thing.

After seeing the entire coast we are now heading back to Oakland so we can catch our flight back to Florida in the morning.

California Land Meets Ocean

This is such beautiful country.  We have spent time in San Francisco, Drove up to Garberville to see the giant Redwoods.  Then we headed south again along 101 to Fort Brag. When we left San Francisco, the temperatures were between 58 and 68 degrees.  This is a normal temperature for the summer.  You go two hour north on 101, which is in the middle of the state and your in the redwoods with temperatures in the 80's and 90's.  You go another hour west to Fort Brag along the west coast and the temperatures drop down again to 55 to 65,  The temperatures will stay this way all along the coast because of the waters coming off of Alaska. The warm inland air hits the coast, creates fog, and keeps everything cool.  Fort Brag is the beginning of where the most beautiful part of land meets ocean.  The cliffs a rocks in the ocean is spectacular. We drove the entire coast from Fort Brag to Bodega Bay and this is what we saw.

These two wanted to hike down another mountain.  I decided to stay at the top.

More California sightseeing to do

Today we left Garberville and headed south on 101, towards Fort Brag.  We stopped by the drive through tree in Liggett.  The Chief had to drive through the tree not once but twice.  The first time he drove through was by himself.  The second time he had to drive The Cisco Kid through.  You can see The Cisco Kid has his head out the sun roof.  This was such a tight squeeze that The Cisco Kid had guide the Chief through the tree.

Tomorrow we are going to drive past what I think is the most beautiful part of California, where land meats ocean.

The Redwood Forest

Today we explored the Avenue of Giants in Garberville California.  These trees are spectacular. They grow on an average of 2,000.00 years. We saw one that was 363 feet tall and 53 inches in circumference.

We hiked down a small mountain to get to this river bed.

These two made a game out of finding trees with good holes you can walk into.

This is truly a Giant Tree we are in front of.

The Food of San Francisco

The food here is excellent.  We have been taking advantage of dining out in all the local restaurants for dinner and trying some different items. Well I say we, but I really mean the Chief and myself.  The Cisco Kid will only eat grilled cheese sandwiches with fries and a salad.

This is the local well known San Francisco sour dough bread.  I could make a meal out of this bread all by itself.
The Chief got a  Bacon Cheese Burger with mushrooms, onions, chipotle sauce on a sour dough roll.

The grilled cheese sandwich.  Because I was fussing at he about getting the same thing all the time, he decided to change it up and get mashed potatoes instead of french fries.  Funny, Funny Child!
 Fish and Chips.  Fresh cod
Bruschetta  This buttery toast was toped with fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic, onions and cheese.  Delish!
Potato gnocchi in gorgonzola cream sauce.  We went back twice for this dish.

I never got a chance to talk about our hotel room.  We got a hotel in Berkeley on the bay in a Marina.  It was a standard room but had a great view.
