Aloha! We have arrived.

Aloha!  The water is so beautiful. This is the view from the plane.

Our room is on the 12th floor and has a perfect panoramas view of Waikiki Beach.
On our way to the Hale Koa Luau.
There is a pig cooking under all that dirt. Our dinner! This is going to be interesting.
The Luau was a three hour event. We got there and there were many Polynesian cultural areas set up for us to participate. This was teaching Connor how to use the ceremony balls from New Zealand.

I was making a bracelet Lei from the Hawian culture.

Showing how they opened up coconuts.  Fresh coconut is so delicious.
The band was playing throughout the beginning part of the Luau.
Teaching the Ukulele.

Of course some Tribal tattooing is in order.

Just a picture of the table. We sat up front and center. Table 5.
She gave Connor his tribal headdress.
Part if there culture of gathering food, they would climb trees to pick coconuts.

Okay!  The pig is ready to come out of the ground.

First, blowing of the conc shel.

Then uncovering the pig from dirt, tarp and the banana leaves.

Oh My!

Yup......that's dinner.
Dinner included salmon salsa, pickled seaweed and cucumber melon salad.  The cucumber melon salad was delicious.  Art loved and could not stop eating the salmon salsa. Pickled seeweed was a No Go for the three of us.

The dinner was okay.  It is a very bland style if cooking.  They let the meat be the star of all the favors, where we add seasoning to build on the meat flavor.  They served pork, chicken, beef and fish over rice, with a fries banana.
Dessert....some kind of vanella coconut cake and creammy jello.  Really I have no idea what it was. But it was good!
The show was filled with beautyful Polynesia dances, jokes, singing.

How to open a coconut.

When they were happy to see you, they would make these scary faces.

Aloha! Until tomorrow.
